My New Job!!

Today was my first day as a part-time receptionist at Baird & Warner. While I only worked for 2.5 hours because I had class this afternoon, I really enjoyed my time at work, and didn't want to leave! The people I work with are really nice. I have a ton of names to learn... there are over 100 people at our Naperville branch! I also need to figure out the telephones... this is the first time I've used phones that have a ton of different buttons, so I definitely got confused and a little nervous when the phone rang today. I only hung up on one person today! I feel bad, but luckily I was able to tell him that it was my first day before I attempted to transfer him to his wife... then I pushed the wrong button. It will take some practice, but I think by tomorrow I should understand it quite a bit more.
I will be working with a girl named Michelle. She is moving up to full-time and I am taking her place in part-time. I really like her- she was super helpful today! She answered all my questions and then some. I'm excited to have such a good trainer!
I got introduced to the entire group today during their awards meeting. People kept coming to the front desk and introducing themselves to me, and after awhile I couldn't even catch people's names because I was meeting so many of them. Michelle showed me the website where I can cheat and sort of quiz myself with names and faces. I don't know what my complete job will entail right now, but I should find out a lot more tomorrow. I work from 10 to 6, which probably won't happen very often as I'll work the afternoon shift starting next week. I am so thankful to Sharon for letting me know about the job opening- I owe her big time!!! :)
I guess that's about it for today- I'm sure I'll have a lot more to write about tomorrow!

Love,

Update!!

So things seem to be going well as far as the job situation goes. The interview went well, and they asked me to come back to take a few computer tests. I did that yesterday, and apparently those went well, too, because they called today and set up another interview for Monday at 3:00 with the head manager. It sounds like things are pointing in the right direction! I have a strong urge to go clothes shopping so I can have some things that would be appropriate if I get the job... I currently have a lot of relaxing winter clothes that are a little less formal. I really need some khakis and a few nice shirts... I might hit up the husband to see if he'd like to visit Kohl's with me this weekend, as he could use some more work clothes as well! :)

Other than job stuff, not much has been going on this week. I've been pretty lazy, as usual. Today I did quite a bit more cleaning than normal. I got the guest room ready for Lindsey and Sara who are visiting next weekend! I cleaned a part of our bedroom that had a huge pile of random clothes and things I wasn't sure what to do with. I still don't really know what to do with them, but I took them to the basement anyway. I swept the kitchen floor. Right now I'm making mom's chicken & noodles for dinner. Probably should have started it a little earlier, but I figure Casey will get home in the next hour or so, and we'll probably eat later like we tend to do anymore. Sounds like he's got to go in to work for a bit tomorrow. We are supposed to get 4-8 inches of stupid snow tonight into tomorrow evening. Blah!! I really hope that will be the last snowfall of this season. I'm going to go nuts!!!

Charley had a vet appointment yesterday, which went well. He doesn't have to go back until July! They called again today to check on him after his booster shot yesterday. He's been whiny, so I will probably take him back there soon just to see his "people". I made the mistake of saying yesterday that we were going to see his "people" and he got so wigged out that he started running around the house and whining- I didn't even get the chance to put on make-up because he freaked out so much! What a nut! I will try to remember not to do that again, unless I'm ready to go!

I guess that's about all for now. Hopefully I'll have a very productive weekend, and Monday will go well. I'll update you soon!

Nervous Energy

I have too much nervous energy this morning and I'm not sure what to do with it. I only have 2.5 hours until I need to leave for my interview. I feel like I'm ready, but I also feel like I'm going to jump out of my skin! I don't know what to wear. What if my resume isn't good enough? I always play the What If game when I'm nervous, which makes me more nervous, so I will stop before it gets too out of hand. Anyway, I will write more later. I just wanted to let it out a bit so I don't go crazy.

In other news, Casey's feeling better, but he's still not 100% yet. If he's still having stomach pains tomorrow, we will go to one of the Doctor's Care places. I still wonder if it is something he ate recently... but we've been eating the same things, and I've been fine. Except for the migraine. Anyway, we'll see.

I took Charley out yesterday because he was whining a lot (like he is now, actually) and we had a lot of fun. We went to a store called Two Bostons, and then to PetsMart so he could see his "people". They really love him there. Because of him, I met a bunch of really nice people yesterday. I definitely use him as an excuse to break the ice and meet people here, and so far it's worked well! He's a charming guy, what can I say? :)

I think that's all for now. I'll write back again soon. Ahhhhhhhh!!

Catching up...

Sorry I have slacked on the blog this week! It's been a strange one so far. Casey has been sick the past few days with some kind of stomach bug. He stayed home yesterday. I had a migraine on Tuesday and stayed home from school, which sucked. I'm trying to make up for that now. We got a big assignment, and I'm a little lost, but I'm still taking tons of pictures anyway. Hopefully at least a few of them will be what my teacher asked for.

In more positive news, we had a lot of fun last weekend! Casey and I hung out together on Friday night and watched a movie. Saturday was spent getting the house ready for Ben & his fiance Amanda to come visit. They got here a little before 3:00 p.m. We had a lot of fun! We went out for coffee, then to downtown Naperville to my favorite Italian restaurant, Rosebud. We had an amazing dinner, and pretty much called it an evening after that. We came home and watched The Dark Knight and went to sleep. We were all stuffed after dinner so it didn't take much for us to get tired. Ben & Amanda brought their dog, Rockie, and he and Charley got to play quite a bit. Charley kept me up most of that night, though, because he was so excited that another dog was in the house, and he kept whining and going to the door to play. By the time the next morning rolled around, I looked like Hell and felt like it, too, but I managed to get a bit of energy and we all went out to our favorite pancake house for breakfast. It happened to be the one that Casey and I went to when we were deciding on which house to buy. Good memories!!

After breakfast, we came back home, and Ben and Amanda got ready to head back to Madison, WI. Less than ten minutes after they left, Jenny came by with Abby & Mya, her two Great Danes, and we spent the afternoon chatting and hanging out with the dogs before going to downtown Naperville again for lunch. Jenny stayed until about 4:30, then Charley and I crashed for a few hours. I was so tired, I know I was probably terrible company at that point! No thanks to Mr. Brown.

It was a fun weekend, and it looks like we're going to have another one! Mandi & Kyle invited us out for drinks tomorrow night in Naperville after work. I hope I will be celebrating, because I finally have an interview tomorrow!!! I'm trying not to get myself too psyched out over it, because I know I'm putting more pressure on myself when I do that, but it really would be a good fit, I think. I would work as a receptionist for Baird & Warner, the same company where we bought our house. Sharon called me on Tuesday morning and said they had an opening and she thought of me first. I meet with the assistant manager tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.. Anyway, I'm nervous, of course, but hopefully everything works out well. It would be nice to FINALLY have a job!!!!!

Saturday is Valentine's day, and Casey and I plan to go out for sushi. We don't really have plans other than that. He found tickets to see Chris Cornell in April, so I think that may be our big gift to each other this year!!! Hopefully it'll all work out. I am at a big loss of what to get him this year. It's hard to shop for someone who makes all the money in the family, and he is hard to shop for anyway!! I'll figure something out, I'm sure.

Finally, Sunday we are planning to go to Evanston to celebrate Misael's birthday. I don't have any details yet, but that is our plan so far. We will finally get to see their baby girl!! :-D

That's all for now. I'm going to get some things done around the house, and then maybe take Charley out so he won't be so whiny. I'll post a few pics from last weekend with the dogs... sadly enough, I only got pictures of our dog visitors and not the people that visited... I know, that's backwards. Anyway, I'll write more-probably after the weekend- to let you know how the interview and everything went. Ahhhhh!!!!

Pictures I meant to post...

Here are some pictures from last weekend... I meant to post them earlier but completely forgot. Please forgive the lighting in the pictures of the sugar cookies... I couldn't adjust them well enough to make them look the color they were supposed to be. Anyway, these are just before and during our Superbowl party. :)

Superbowl Party & Photography Homework

Our party went well last night! I got to meet two of Casey's coworkers, and their spouses. One of the couples had a son who was 4, and he and Charley hit it off pretty well. By the end of the night, both of them were pretty worn out from running around the house. The game was exciting, the commercials weren't very impressive, and overall we have quite a bit of chili and mac & cheese left over! I guess I don't need to worry about cooking for a few days. :) I slept better last night than I have in months... I was so exhausted!! We had a really good time, and I'm glad it went as well as it did. :)

Today I've been spending a lot of time taking photos for class tomorrow. I'm going to post some of them now so I can stop writing and rest my eyes a bit. I have to read a chapter for class tomorrow, so I need to spare them as much as possible. I hope you enjoy the pics!
